ESPS congratulates Micah Truong, who has completed her studies of the Suzuki piano repertoire and graduated from the Suzuki piano program at a virtual concert on Sunday May 31, 2020.
Born and raised in Edmonton, Micah is a student of the Suzuki Method in piano, violin, and viola. She first started the violin Suzuki Method when she was 5 years old. A year later, she started piano lessons with Mrs. Tess Brown, who had already been teaching her older brothers, Silas and Thaddaeus, for several years. Micah took up the viola at age 14 and continues to study both instruments with Bonnie Gregory. In addition to Suzuki music lessons, Micah also participates in the school band. She played the clarinet, tenor saxophone, baritone saxophone, and alto saxophone in junior high. Now in high school, she has settled into playing the alto saxophone under the tutelage of Mr. Jerrold Dubyk. Micah enjoys playing in an orchestra setting and has been a part of the Singing Strings Orchestra for 3 years and the Edmonton Youth Orchestra for one year. Besides playing musical instruments, Micah also enjoys ballet and has danced at the Edmonton School of Ballet since she was 5 years old. When she’s not practicing or dancing, she likes to spend her free time baking, painting or watching TV. The piano is certainly one of her favourite instruments and she looks forward to continuing in her studies.
A student of Tess Brown, Micah’s concert featured music by Mozart, Handel, Chopin and Debussy.
